Crystalline Entities
Damien created the Crystalline Entities installation based on a prototype component originally developed as a part of Rabbit Revolution's stage design, "The Crystal Forest." Damien adapted and expanded on the concept to develop a portable installation that could be deployed in a wide variety of spaces. The installation made its debut as a part of the Camp Diode stage at Firefly Arts Collective in Bethel, Vermont and has since been displayed at concerts, museums, and community events throughout the Northeast.
The installation is comprised of hundreds of LEDs encased in 26 crystal-shaped sculptures made of fluted polypropylene. The crystals are centrally-controlled using a combination of hardware and software to create a sound-reactive light show that uses nearly 2,000 channels of DMX data.
Damien developed an interactive, motion controlled element for the installation for a special exhibition for the Boston Children’s Museum, which you can learn more about here.
