Boynton Yards

Boynton Yards and ONCE Somerville approached Damien to bring a touch of magic to a series of community holiday events for our neighbors in Somerville. The event series brought together local small businesses, artisans, musical performers, brewers, and food vendors to create a number of special seasonal celebrations: Oktoberfest, Somersgiving, and Winterfest.

JJ Gonson, of the legendary ONCE ballroom in Somerville, brought Damien onto the project team to create visually captivating experiences that would bring to life normally empty spaces in the neighborhood, such as parking lots and lawns. Damien debuted two new installations at these events, including the Photon Festoons and a centerpiece 360-degree holiday light tree comprised of 3,200 individual LEDs. He also displayed his signature Crystalline Entities installation to bring an icy touch to the winter events.

The event series ran throughout the fall and winter holidays of 2021 and 2022.
