About this Card

I designed this card as a "pocket case study" in prototype development that combines the convenience of digital business card solutions like "dot.cards" with the lasting impact of a physical keepsake. Rather than choosing between digital functionality and tangible networking tools, I created a hybrid solution that delivers both.

Leveraging my software development and DevOps expertise, I built a custom software stack using open-source technologies and applied my sourcing experience to identify reliable overseas manufacturers for prototyping. The result was a fully customized, feature-rich solution at approximately $1 per unit—a 95% cost reduction compared to existing non-customized alternatives.

Technology Stack

The cards have embedded NXP NTAG213 chips, which are programmable using readily available NFC programmer smartphone apps. The site is built using a customized open-source node.js application called littlelink-server. The solution is containerized using Docker, secured using Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates, and is hosted behind an NGINX reverse proxy on Amazon AWS.
